His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet's session held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today. At the outset of the session, HRH the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the content of the phone call he made to the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, in which they reviewed ways to develop joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries. The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom's foreign policy in the past days, which aimed at strengthening multilateral efforts through regional and international organizations, in a way that would contribute to addressing common challenges, especially in the humanitarian, security, and environmental protection fields. In this regard, the Cabinet affirmed that the announcement to launch the second edition of the "Middle East Green Initiative Summit" and the "Saudi Green Initiative Forum" in Egypt next November, coinciding with the convening of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, reflects the Kingdom's commitment to supporting collective participatory action to face the environmental and climatic challenges that the region and the world are witnessing. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said that the Cabinet touched upon the launch of the National Initiative for Global Supply Chains, which aims to strengthen the Kingdom's position as a major center and a vital link in global supply chains, and to attract quality industrial and service investments worth SAR 40 billion during the first two years of the launch of the initiative, as part of the Kingdom's constant endeavor to contribute to the stability and growth of the global economy. The Cabinet reiterated that the two agreements signed by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to prevent and combat the outbreak of measles and polio in several countries, are part of supporting international efforts and initiatives aimed at eradicating this epidemic. The Cabinet also discussed the Kingdom's participation in the high-level international conference on "International and Regional Border Security and Management Cooperation to Counter Terrorism and Prevent the Movement of Terrorists" in Tajikistan, where the Kingdom's efforts in this regard were highlighted at the regional and international levels. The Cabinet was briefed on the topics on its agenda, including topics that the Shura Council participated in their study, and the outcomes concluded by the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the Cabinet's General Committee and the Cabinet's Bureau of Experts in this regard. The Cabinet issued the following decisions: First: Authorizing the Minister of Energy – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Nigerien side a draft cooperation agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Niger in the field of energy. Second: Authorizing the Minister of Culture – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Tunisian side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia for cooperation in the cultural field. Third: Authorizing the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) regarding a draft agreement between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) for cooperation in the environmental fields. Fourth: Authorizing the Minister of Investment – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Czech side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Czech Republic to cooperate in the field of direct investment promotion. Fifth: Approving a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of export credits between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Sixth: Approving the governance of coordination between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the competent entities regarding procedures related to the industrial facilities. Seventh: The Cabinet approved a number of promotions at the 14th rank. The Cabinet also reviewed several issues on its agenda, including the annual reports of the National Competitiveness Center, the Environment Fund, and the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, and took necessary procedures regarding them.
