The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) is exhibiting its latest initiatives on reducing energy consumption and minimizing carbon emissions using renewables and generating clean energy, during the Water, Energy, and Environment Technology Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show, which was launched on Thursday for 3 days at the Dubai World Trade. During the exhibition, SWCC offers prominent investment opportunities in brine, which is rich in rare metals and minerals, aiming to meet the growing demand for reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, that has a cumulative annual growth rate in the Gulf countries of 7%, and its market size is expected to reach 3.4 billion Saudi riyals in 2025. SWCC is establishing the largest system of zero liquid discharge with a production capacity of 2 million tons of sodium chloride. SWCC is also informing visitors and attendees of its current solar energy projects under implementation, including Al-Khafji solar production system that depends on (RO) technology with a production capacity of 60,000 cubic meters of desalinated water per day, and the photovoltaic (PV) solar cell systems project with a generation capacity of (110) megawatts, which aims to reduce energy consumption to less than (2.16) kilowatts per cubic meter of desalinated water, and more than 20% of the design energy consumption rate of (2.7) kilowatts per cubic meter. SWCC will also unveil its ambitious renewable energy projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions to 34 million tons by 2024, in addition to further reducing the energy consumption of its latest mobile desalination plant, which is designed and manufactured based on solar energy, with a current consumption rate of (2.27) kilowatts per cubic meter, but SWCC is aiming to lower it to (2.0) kilowatts per hour.
