At least two Hong Kong tourists died and three were seriously injured after a speeding passenger bus crashed on Friday in southwestern China's Guangxi region, state media said. The bus was carrying 22 people, including 18 members of a Hong Kong tour group, when it crashed en route from Guilin to Longsheng, the official Xinhua news agency said. The injured tourists were being treated at a hospital in Guilin, one of China's most popular tourist destinations, the agency said. Police were investigating the cause of the crash but initially believed speeding was the main cause, it said. The accident came amid the travel peak of China's "golden week" holiday to mark the start of the lunar Year of the Rooster, which began on Wednesday. Dozens more road traffic deaths have been reported across China in the last few days. Road traffic accidents kill an average of nearly 300 people daily in China, according to government statistics. But the World Health Organization last year estimated the daily total of Chinese pedestrians, drivers, cyclists and others killed in road traffic accidents at more than twice the official figure.
