The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhamadu Buhari, on 20 September 2022 in New York, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, received the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha. During the meeting, the Secretary-General lauded Nigeria's ongoing support for the OIC and joint Islamic action. For his part, President Buhari expressed his best wishes for the success of the Secretary-General in his assignment at the helm of the OIC General Secretariat. Both sides reviewed the security and developmental challenges facing the Sahel and Lake Chad region, including the impact of climate change. In this regard, the Secretary-General lauded Nigeria's role and untiring efforts in fighting terrorism in the region under the President Buhari's leadership.
