Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef has held a meeting with Director of the US Geological Survey David Applegate, in the presence of Executive Director of the National Industrial Development Center Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Qirtas. During the meeting, they discussed ways of enhancing fields of cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector and reviewed the Kingdom's ambitious plans to achieve the objectives of the mining sector, in accordance with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program. The two sides also discussed the volume and quality of the natural resources available in the Kingdom, estimated at USD 1.3 trillion, in addition to exploring opportunities in a number of minerals such as titanium and aluminum, and enhancing cooperation in the exploration of rare-earth minerals. The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources hailed the long-standing relationship that extends for more than 37 years between the Saudi Geological Survey and the US Geological Survey as well as the achievements made in the fields of surveying, prospecting and mining, in addition to training Saudi geologists and mining engineers.
