Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha today at the headquarters of the OIC secretariat general received Special Envoy of the Somali President for Humanitarian Affairs and Drought Abdul Rahman Abdul Shakour, who delivered a letter from the Somali president to Taha. The secretary general welcomed the special envoy, stressing that the OIC general secretariat is following up eagerly on the hunger whose repercussions have started to surface in Somalia as a result of the drought. He also stressed the commitment of the general secretariat to implement the decision issued during the 48th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which was held in Islamabad, Pakistan in March 2022, which renewed OIC's commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Somali people and urged stakeholders to intensify efforts to help affected people from the drought. The meeting also stressed the importance of relations between OIC and Somalia.
