Police swinging batons clashed with stone-throwing protesters Sunday in Bangladesh's sixth anti-government strike in eight days, killing one policeman and injuring at least 15 other people, an official said. The main opposition party, the Awami League, is organizing a series of nationwide strikes to protest the killings of five of its members in a Jan. 27 grenade attack at a political rally. Three suspects from the ruling party have been detained, but the government denies involvement and has vowed to remain in power until its term ends in 2006, the Associated Press reported. Sunday's strike shut down shops and schools and disrupted public transportation across the country.
