The Council of the Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) held here today its 228th session under the chairmanship of Dr Ahmad Mohammed Ali, the President of the IDB. The participants of the meeting reviewed issues pertaining to financing development projects and trade operations as well as extending assistance to some Muslim communities in non-IDB's member states. They also reviewed a number of administrative and technical reports including a report on the assistance of victims of Tsunami, which recently hit South East Asian countries including Indonesia, Maldives, Somalia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka. The IDB earlier announced allocation of $500 million for this purpose. Meanwhile, they reviewed the agenda of the 30th annual meeting for the council of the IDB's governors, due to be held next July in Malaysia.
