U.S. Marine killed in action south of Baghdad

A U.S. Marine was killed in action on Saturday in an area just south of Baghdad that is known to be an insurgent stronghold, the military said on Sunday.
Since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, at least 1,107 U.S. military and Pentagon personnel have been killed in action in Iraq.
