Published in Saudi Press Agency on 28 - 06 - 2022

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) is participating in the 11th World Urban Forum, being held in Katowice City, Poland, between June 26 and 30, 2022, to review pioneering Saudi projects and initiatives in the field of urban and sustainable development in Yemeni cities.
SDRPY participates in the forum among several Saudi agencies to review their programs and initiatives in urban affairs.
The projects and initiatives of SDRPY have contributed to improving the infrastructure and level of basic services for the Yemeni people and providing jobs through 207 development projects and initiatives with a total value of USD 829,073,978 till 2021 with around 15 million beneficiaries in 14 Yemeni governorates.
SDRPY projects and initiatives included 25 development projects and initiatives in the health sector, 50 projects and initiatives in the educational sector, 26 in the energy sector, 32 in the water sector, 18 in the agricultural sector, 33 in the transport sector, 12 development initiatives and 11 projects in the public institutions sector.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also offered Yemen a direct economic and development support with a total value of USD 9.8 billion between 2012 and 2022, including direct deposits for the economic and development support of the Central Bank and the social development fund and oil derivatives.
Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has offered over USD 19 billion as humanitarian, relief, development and economic assistance to Yemen, where all Saudi assistance are registered at the Financial Tracking Service of the UN.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in April 2022 offered an urgent support to the Yemeni economy, with a total value of USD 3 billion, which includes providing USD 2 billion, offered jointly by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in support for the Yemeni Central Bank, while USD 1 billion from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including USD 600 million to the fund of buying oil derivatives and USD 400 million to support development projects and initiatives.
This support contributed to limiting the collapse of the Yemeni currency and the depreciation of the Yemeni riyal exchange rate against the dollar by around 36%, compared to exchange rate at the start of the Yemeni-Yemeni consultations.
SDRPY's 207 development projects and initiatives in various Yemeni governorates are implemented to serve Yemenis in seven main sectors: education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture and fishery and building the capacity of government institutions and development programs.
