A corporate jet trying to take off from a New Jersey airport outside Manhattan slid off the runway, skidded through snow and crossed a highway before crashing into a warehouse, authorities and witnesses said on Wednesday. ABC News reported one person died in the incident at Teterboro Airport. A spokesman for Hackensack Medical Center said 12 people were brought to the hospital, mostly with minor injuries and jet fuel on them. Police and local hospital officials provided no information on possible fatalities. Diane Spitaliere, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Washington, said the plane attempted to take off at 7:20 a.m. EST/1220 GMT, veered off the end of a runway, crashed through a fence and crossed the highway before hitting a building. "The preliminary report is that 12 people were on board. We don't know the status of people on board. The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) is in the process of launching an investigation," Spitaliere said.
