OIC Welcomes Announcement by UN Special Envoy for Yemen of Agreement to Extend the Truce in Yemen

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the announcement by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, today, Thursday, June 2, 2022, of an agreement to extend the current truce in Yemen for a period of two months. While the General Secretariat appreciates the efforts of the Special Envoy, it hopes that the truce will be fully implemented and consolidated, in order to help create conditions for a sustainable political solution to the conflict in Yemen in response to the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation reiterated its support for Yemen to alleviate the suffering of its people and achieve its aspirations for security, peace, stability and development.
