The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has participated in the International Exhibition and Forum for Afforestation Techniques held at the Riyadh International Center, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in cooperation with the National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification, May 29-31. The event has attracted large number of decision makers, technology solution providers, green industry leader, private investors, academia, and public to seek solutions for increasing vegetation cover, combating desertification and addressing climate change challenges in Saudi Arabia and the middle East. As a global leader in landscape restoration and afforestation, FAO has played key role as member of the event scientific committee, in supporting the organization, and delivering presentations and in the exhibition. Areas presented by FAO included community participation in afforestation initiatives, impact of livestock grazing management on afforestation, forest resources monitoring and assessment, and organizing restoration initiatives at national, regional, and global levels. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to dialogue, exchange experiences, learn, and build partnerships for greener and sustainable future. The outcomes of the event will support ongoing greening, ecosystem restoration, and climate actions by Saudi Arabia and Middle East countries.
