The chief of police in the Somali capital Mogadishu was gunned down in his house by unknown assailants, reports said Monday. Yusuf Ahmed Sareenle was shot to death Sunday morning when four gunmen entered his house in the Hamarbile area of Mogadishu and shot him at least seven times in the chest and head, before fleeing in a pickup, police said Monday. Somalia has been a lawless land since the ousting of president Siad Barre in 1991, with warlords fighting each other without much interruption from the outside.
