One of newly inaugurated U.S. President George W. Bush's main tasks should be to pay more attention to the weak dollar, French Finance Minister Herve Gaymard said Friday. "The Americans must stop their attitude of negligence" of the dollar, Gaymard told France Inter radio the day after Bush's inauguration. The continuous decline of the U.S. currency is "troubling", Gaymard added. "I have carefully read Mr. Bush's (inauguration) speech. Unfortunately, he did not say much on the issue," Gaymard said. The dollar has retreated from its historic lows against the euro, but on Friday it lost value again, dropping to 1.2944 euros.
