The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated in 9th World Water Forum 2022, which is being held in Dakar, Senegal, under the theme "Water Security for Peace and Development". Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani headed Saudi Arabia's delegation to the forum that is held between March 21 and 26, 2022. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's participation in the forum aims at benefiting from the expertise of other countries and discussing latest development in the water sector, based on the Saudi Vision 2030 targets in sustaining and developing water resources, preserving the environment and providing safe supplies and high quality services that contribute to the economic and social development, until guaranteeing the competitiveness of the water sector and its positive contributions to the national economy through enhancing effective governance, participation of private sector and localizing capabilities and innovation. The forum discusses issues related to international cooperation in subjects concerned with water and sustainable development, climate change, and means to preserve water resources and environment protection, with the aim of enhancing the implementation of procedures necessary to realize the sixth goal of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all", where the forum also provides an opportunity to exchange public policies and initiatives related to water among participating sides, and thinking about the future of the water and sanitation sector, including those aspects related to security, cooperation, sustainable development, and offering solutions to finance, governance, the best administrative practices and innovations.
