The Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Dr. Salim bin Mohammad Al-Malik met, in Malta, today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta, Evarist Bartolo, where they discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture. A statement issued by ICESCO from its headquarters in Rabat stated that Dr. Al-Malik reviewed the initiatives undertaken by the organization, noting that it had drawn up a charter allowing non-member states to join it as observers, for more cooperation and exchange of experiences with the countries of the Islamic world in the fields of education, science and culture, inviting Malta to join ICESCO as an observer. For his part, the Maltese minister valued the efforts and roles of the organization in its fields of competence, stressing his country's keenness to cooperate with the organization, especially in the youth leadership training program for peace and security.
