Thailand on Friday temporarily closed its embassy in Indonesia after receiving bomb threats, a Thai official said. The embassy of Thailand and those of several Western countries in Indonesia had received bomb treats on Thursday, prompting an evacuation of the Jakarta mission, said Thai foreign ministry spokesman Sihasak Phuangkatekeow. "We have urged our staff at the embassy to evacuate the embassy for their safety," said Sihasak. The Thai embassy in Jakarta will remain temporarily closed until the situation is turn back to normal, he added. "I'm optimistic that the Thai embassy was not an attack target," said Sihasak. Unlike the U.S., British and Australian embassies in Jakarta, the Thai embassy has rarely been a target for protests.
