Japanese Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Shoichi Nakagawa arrived in Islamabad on Friday for a two-day official visit to Pakistan, officials said. The Japanese Minister will hold meetings with President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Commerce Minister Hamayun Akhtar on Saturday. The two sides will discuss matters pertaining to bilateral trade and investment. Officials said Pakistan traditionally enjoys cordial political and trade relations with Japan. The balance of trade between the two countries is in favour of Japan. In year 2003-04, the total volume of trade between the two countries was $1,071.101 million, which constituted Pakistan's exports to Japan worth $134.770 million and imports from Japan worth $936.331 million. Officials said the visit of the Japanese minister would open up new vistas of bilateral cooperation in economic, industrial and commercial fields between the two countries.
