The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced that the 22nd edition of the World Summit will be held in Riyadh in late 2022. The WTTC World Summit is the largest event in the world for the travel and tourism sector, as the Kingdom will host the summit after its 21st edition to be held in Manila, The Philippines from 14 to 16 March 2022. During the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, the WTTC President and CEO Julia Simpson stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed its keenness on the tourism sector since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, which has caused the almost complete suspension of international flights, and has made sure that tourism remains at the top of the global agendas. She indicated that the Kingdom played a major role in the efforts to recover this important sector, which contributes to building the economies of countries and provides jobs for all around the world. Simpson also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom and for its tremendous efforts by hosting the summit on its soil next year. For his part, the Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb welcomed the decision to choose the Kingdom as a host country for the next edition of the World Travel and Tourism Council's World Summit 2022, stressing that the summit is an important platform to support efforts of partnership and coordination between the public and private sectors to improve the future of tourism.
