Arab Interior Ministers Council today started its 22nd session under the patronage of President Zine Elabidine ben Ali of Tunisia here today. Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister, leads Saudi Arabia's delegation to the two-day meeting. Addressing the opening ceremony, Prince Naif extended his thanks to the Tunisian authorities for their warm reception, generous hospitality and sincere interest in the Arab security issue. He reassured the ministers that despite some criminal phenomena and deviant trends that have recently inflicted some parts of the region, the Arab world people still feel very secure. The security situation is not as exacerbating as portrayed by the media or as others would like to see, he said, adding that since the Arab nationals feel that souls, properties and money are not vulnerable, then security is intact. He told the meeting that security is not reached by just creating security fully-equipped authorities but also by crystallizing the feeling that the individual is not in danger. Tunisian Minister of Interior and Local Development Rafiq Belhaj Qasim also addressed the meeting on behalf of President Zine Elabidine ben Ali.
