A gas explosion in a five-storey apartment building killed 10 people and injured another 12 in western France, authorities said Monday. Rescue workers, who originally said two people had been killed, discovered eight more bodies overnight after the explosion Sunday afternoon in the eastern city of Mulhouse, authorities said. Authorities said nine people remained missing following the explosion, which downed a large portion of the apartment building. Dozens of rescue workers sifted through the rubble, searching for survivors, officials said, and an investigation of the possible cause was under way.
