Published in Saudi Press Agency on 17 - 08 - 2021

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has entered a new era distinguished by harnessing the latest technologies to collect high-resolution data in order to conduct research and scientific studies in different fields.
In this regard, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Spire, a leading space data, analytics, and services provider, will launch the "KAUST CubeSat" research satellite by the end of 2022.
The newspaper added that launch of this first satellite of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia constitutes the most technologically advanced, as it combines the expertise of Spire in developing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS-R) reflectors, and hyperspectral imaging devices, supported by advanced capabilities in processing and artificial intelligence.
The data collected from the satellite is of paramount importance, especially in providing high-resolution details about the current conditions of ecosystems in the region, and monitoring improvements resulting from environmental management strategies, thus, supporting the Green Saudi the Green Middle East Initiatives.
The newspaper concluded that the launch of KAUST CubeSat will be followed by stronger cooperation in different areas other than the environment, and this will contribute to realizing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
In another context, Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the Ministry of Health reiterated that the COVID-19 vaccines approved in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are safe and effective, highlighting the importance of taking two doses of the vaccine to prevent complications of the fast-spreading Delta variant.
The daily further added that the ministry's announcements reflect Saudi Arabia's great care of the safety and health of citizens and residents since the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic worldwide.
Saudi Arabia has made progress in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. This is represented in approving and providing safe and effective vaccines. It is also represented in the continuing decline in the curve of the positive COVID-19 cases.
Within the same context, Saudi Arabia's economy continues to recover in light of precautionary and preventive measures. Therefore, strictly adhering to precautionary and preventive measures and vaccination are the only way to prevent the infection, especially in light of the spread of new variants of the virus, the newspaper concluded.
