Under the patronage of the Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), Let Gen Admiral Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ghufaili, the Royal Saudi Naval Forces celebrated the ceremonial launching of the "AVANTE 2200" Corvette, which is the fourth warship of its type within the Sarwat Corvette Project. The warship was officially named His Majesty's Ship "Jazan", as part of its ceremonial launching held at the shipyard of the Navantia Naval Industries Co., of the Kingdom of Spain. The ceremonial launching was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, Azzam bin Abdulkarim Al-Qain; a number of RSNF senior officers; the Saudi Military Attaché to Madrid; Vice President of Saudi Arabian Military Industries Company "SAMI" for Corporate Communication, Support Services and Information Technology, Wael bin Mohammed Al-Sarhan; a number of senior officials from the Spanish Navy; representatives from "Sami-Navantia" and "Spanish Navantia" companies and other parties. To mark the occasion, Let Gen Admiral Fahd Al-Ghufaili delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness for the launching of His Majesty's Ship "Jazan", praising the unlimited support being provided by the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense. He said, "The Sarawat project will contribute to raising the level of readiness of the RSNF, enhancing maritime security in the region and protecting the vital strategic interests of the Kingdom. In addition, the project ships are an important addition to the capabilities of the RSNF in protecting the Kingdom's maritime interests and localizing advanced military industries technically." The warships of the Sarawat project are distinguished by having the latest combat systems to deal with all air threats, surface and subsurface, as well as electronic wars that have more capabilities than many of the world's navies, and they are also a great addition to the capabilities of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces to protect the capabilities and interests of the nation's maritime. Sarawat Project includes the training services for crews, training simulators, logistics, and long-term after-sales technical and logistical support. His Majesty's Ship "Jazan" and all other warships of the Sarawat project will also be equipped with the first battle management system which is a "100%" Saudi production system under the name "HAZEM", which was developed by national cadres and an integrated work team as part of the mission of the "Sami-Navantia" company within "Avante 2200" project. For his part, the SAMI CEO, Engineer Walid bin Abdulmajeed Abu Khaled, expressed in a speech delivered on his behalf by SAMI Vice President Wael Al-Sarhan, SAMI's pride of its strategic partnership with RSNF and Spanish Navantia Company, saying, "Today we celebrate the launching of His Majesty's Ship "Jazan", the fourth Avante 2200 Corvette, which will enhance the tasks of the RSNF fleet, asserting the great interest in the maritime industries sector and the ongoing work to develop its new systems and requirements."
