The 4th Islamic Conference of the Ministers of Culture started here today under the patronage of Algeria's President Abdulaziz Bou Teflika. The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Fu'ad bin Abdulsalam Alfarsi headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the conference titled " Cultural Diversity Between Globalization and Preservation of National Identity and Heritage". Addressing the conference, Dr. Al-Farsi conveyed to the ministers the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Second Deputy Premier, wishing them all success. Since we deal with the international changes, Islamic cultural action should keep abreast of all developments inside and outside the Muslim world, the Minister said and added that we have two projects on the cultural strategy in the Muslim world and the Islamic charter of cultural diversity. Dr. Al-Farsi pointed out that the West's concept of terrorism has been attributed to Islam, stressing that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism. Islam is the religion of tolerance, love, mercy, justice and equality, he said and affirmed that the Kingdom is determined to confront all forms of terrorism with all the Kingdom's information and cultural capabilities. --More 2026 Local Time 1726 GMT
