Japan's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded at an annualized 0.2 per cent in the July-September period from the previous quarter, revised downward from the earlier reported 0.3 per cent rise, the government said Wednesday. GDP is the total value of goods and services produced domestically. Real GDP data are adjusted for inflation and seasonal variations. The government also said that the nation's GDP expanded a real 0.1 per cent in the July-September period from the previous quarter, unchanged from the initial report. The government said on November 12 that Japan's economic growth in the July-September period was 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter, marking the sixth straight quarter of expansion. The figure was also translated into an annual expansion of 0.3 per cent. Despite the dismal GDP data, Japan's economy minister Heizo Takenaka said Wednesday the government keeps a positive view about the nation's economic recovery. "We don't think it necessary to change our view that the economy is on a expansion phase while experiencing a slight adjustment," Takenata told at a Tokyo press conference. --more 1106 Local Time 0806 GMT
