Two Libyans next week will join an international team monitoring a cease-fire between the government and Muslim separatists gin the southern Philippines, officials said Sunday. The Libyans will arrive Monday and join a 60-member team of peacekeepers from Malaysia and Brunei authorized to monitor a yearlong truce between Manila and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. The cease-fire is seen as crucial to upcoming Malaysian-brokered peace talks. "The presence of the three countries signifies the full support of the international community, which is very important as we enter this stage of opening the peace talks," presidential adviser Teresita Deles said.
