The participants at third virtual panel discussion entitled "Communication on Environmental Issues: What are the most influential issues and topics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" affirmed that the Kingdom Vision 2030 has paid great attention to the environment and led international efforts to preserve it, under a follow-up and directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, hailing "Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative" announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister. The came in the third virtual panel discussion organized by the British Embassy in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and a number of specialists. During the panel discussion, UK's Deputy Ambassador Richard Oppenheim stated that the UK looks forward to working with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to present a vision of a better and greener world for future generations based on the G20's resolutions and the UK's presidency of COP 26. For her part, Dr. Majedah Mohammed Abu Ras, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Environment Society (SENS), stressed that the woman has a major role in addressing the climate change and is an important element in combating this global phenomenon, asserting the need for the woman's participation in developing strategic and development plans to combat this phenomenon. She disclosed that the Saudi Environment Society launched three campaigns to preserve the environment targeting housewives, sustainable schools and initiative for journalists to formulate environmental media. For his part, Dr. Fahad bin Hassan Al Agran, Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), disclosed that the Kingdom Vision 2030 clearly and explicitly stipulates the importance of the environment, pointing out that the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative announced by HRH the Crown Prince have a great role in preserving the environment and climate change. Dr. Al Agran stressed the importance of the media role in various issues, in light of the great and rapid development, adding that the media does not play its role as it should be in the field of environment due to the difficulty of the terminology used in the environmental field for non-specialist recipients and the media searching about the scoop, which is not found in the environmental news, in addition to the absence of specialized media in the field of the environment and the lack of communication among journalists and environmentalists. Dr. Al Agran affirmed the importance of producing and transmitting documentaries due to their great role in spreading awareness among different segments of the society about the environmental issues, in addition to disseminating contents in all forms. He pointed out the engagement of writers and intellectuals in raising awareness of the importance of the climate change issues, in addition to holding workshops and seminars among the media representatives and specialists in the environmental field.
