Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, affirmed that the People's Republic of China is a priority in cooperation with the GCC, pointing out that the council is keen to resume negotiations and reach a free trade agreement between the two sides in order to enhance joint cooperation serving the common interests, particularly that China is the first trading partner for the GCC countries. During a meeting held here today between the GCC Secretary General and ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing, the two sides reviewed outcomes of the recent visit paid by the State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi to the GCC Secretariat General. The GCC Secretary General and Chinese Ambassador reviewed the latest developments at regional and international arenas in a way to enhance security and stability in the region. For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed his pride in the cooperation between the GCC and China, expressing his appreciation for the GCC priorities with regard to the free trade negotiations between the two sides.
