Education Minister: "Dual Degrees and Scientific Majors" Reflect Leadership's Interest in the Importance of Matching Educational Outcomes to Labor Market
Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Education, today inaugurated a workshop entitled "Dual Academic Degrees and Scientific Majors in Saudi Universities" organized virtually by the Ministry's Agency for University Education. More than 104 participants from 42 governmental and private universities took part in the workshop which aimed at discussing and creating degrees or scientific majors with dual specialization or interdisciplinary as per the labor market needs. Addressing the workshop attendees, Al-Sheikh underlined the Saudi leadership's generous support of the university education in the Kingdom in general, believing in the importance of the mission of universities in building and educating the Human Resources, developing their skills and capabilities and playing a greater role in providing the requirements of comprehensive development and matching education outcomes with the labor market needs. Al-Sheikh explained that the universities are working on a project to develop the university education in a way consistent with the needs of the labor market, by harmonizing the outputs of education. The minister highlighted that everyone has the opportunity to improve and develop their performance to serve these goals.
