Another serious mining accident in China left 170 miners trapped in the ground on Sunday, the official Xinhua news agency reported. A further 123 of their colleagues were rescued after a gas explosion ripped through the coalmine in Chenjiashan in Sha'anxi province on Sunday morning. The blast occurred below ground around eight kilometers from the entrance to the pit, the report said. Only those working near the exit were able to save themselves.
