On behalf of Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region, Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Almane'a, the Minister of Health, opened here tonight the 9th conference for the Orthopedic Surgeons Association for the Gulf Cooperation Council's member states. Addressing the opening session, which took place at King Fahd Cultural Center, Dr. Almane'a said traffic accidents lead the causes for bones diseases in the world, noting that unfortunately deadly accidents toll in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the highest in the world, according to John Hopkins university study. The minister quoted the study as saying that 12 fatalities take place daily in the Kingdom, far higher than the rate in the United States. He said 44,592 orthopedics surgeries have been carried out in government hospitals two years ago out of which 4990 patients passed away because of this disease.
