Firefighters were called in to rescue more than 30 people, among them mostly young children, trapped on the roof of a burning building in central Johannesburg on Friday, news reports said. The fire that broke out in the morning destroying the three top floors and causing windows to be blown out and debris to crash onto the street below, the Sapa news agency said. The 26 children, many of them toddlers, that were removed from the building were attending a pre-school there at the time of the fire.
