AN Indian political leader on a visit to the Kingdom said that several rapport-building measures are being taken by Saudi diplomatic mission in India as well as members of the Congress party-led government in New Delhi to foster closer ties with the Kingdom s leaders, reported today Jeddah-based 'Saudi Gazette". 'Enhanced relations between Indian and Saudi leaders would open fronts for further cooperation on issues of common interest and mutual benefit to both countries', said Wasim Ahmad, who is presently a member of the working committee (CWC) of the Congress party. 'Saudi Ambassador in New Delhi Saleh Muhammad Al-Ghamdi already had a round of talks with Natwar Singh, our external affairs minister', Ahmad said. 'The Ambassador also held a meeting with Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, President of our party', he added. The meeting is said to have taken place with efforts of Ahmad to boost Saudi-Indian ties. He said the meetings held by the Ambassador with both Indian leaders were fruitful and they would open doors to further talks between the leaders and diplomats of the two countries with a focus on developing friendly relationship.
