President of the Arab Parliament Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi has highly commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pledge of USD 430 million to fund the United Nations Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan 2021. The Arab Parliament President praised the outcomes of Yemen High-Level Pledging Event 2021, which was convened virtually yesterday, aimed at alleviating the suffering of Yemeni people who are facing a major humanitarian crisis, along with the health and economic repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the Houthi militia's major escalation in Yemen, especially its escalating of violence against innocent civilians in Marib Governorate, which hosts more than two million people, and most of whom are displaced. Al-Asoumi valued the Arab participation in this event, especially the pledges announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which reflect their moral and humanitarian commitment to the Yemeni people. He added that Saudi Arabia and UAE pledges come as an extension of their humanitarian and developmental contributions to support the Yemeni people and improve their living conditions. He called on the international community to take a firm stance to reach a final and sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis that achieves security and stability in Yemen and ends the suffering of the Yemeni people. The President of the Arab Parliament reaffirmed the parliament's firm position towards reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis in all its dimensions, according to the three references, the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue and the UN Security Council Resolutions, in particular Resolution No. 2216.
