A gunbattle between police and rebels in a central Iraqi town left one fighter dead, while a search operation netted four suspected insurgents and a weapons cache, police said Tuesday. The gunmen involved in the deadly late-Monday clash at Mahaweel drove a sports utility vehicle packed with explosives, light weapons and cash, said Capt. Hadi Hatif. Hatif said authorities also nabbed four suspected rebels and confiscated their ammunition and explosives during a separate raid in Mahaweel, about 60 kilometers (35 miles) south of Baghdad.
