Saudi Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Eng. Mohammed Jamil bin Ahmad Al-Mullah arrived here on Sunday to participate in a regional preparatory meeting for the second international data conference, due to tak place in the Syrian Capital. The international data conference is to be held under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Telecommunications and Technology in cooperation with the UN's Economic and Social Committee for West Asia, the UNESCO's regional Bureau as well as other international and regional organizations and the private sector. On arrival at Damascus International Airport, the Saudi Minister was greeted by Syrian Minister of Telecommunications and Technology Basheer Al-Munjid and Saudi Charge D'affaires in Damascus Saud Katiba. The participants of the conference will review a number of topics including the document of International Principles Declaration, approved by Geneva Summit last year like the strategies of data technology and plans of regional coordination etc. They will also review means of enabling women to share knowledge and innovation as well as manage internet services and facilities. Prospects of creating effective partnerships between governments and the private sector for carrying out regional work plans also came up for in-depth review by the participants. The conference will be preceded by the organization of a partnership forum which will be attended by representatives of the financing institutions and technology experts.
