Prince Sultan Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Secretary General of the Higher Tourism Commission, said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a suitable place for implementing investment projects, notably in the field of tourism. In a statement to the Cairo-based 'Al-Ahram Al-Arabi' Magazine, Prince Sultan bin Salman said a general strategy for the development of national tourism in the Kingdom up to 2020 has been prepared. "The Higher Tourism Commission has presented 70 initiatives for promotion of tourism in the country and creation of 1.5 million job opportunities," he added. Prince sultan bin Salman expected that the number of tourists arriving by air in the Kingdom in 2020 would jump to 13.1 million from 7.5 million in 2002. As regards internal tourism, Prince Sultan bin Salman said the number of tourists is expected to reach 62.8 million next year and 128 million in 2020. Meanwhile, Prince Sultan bin Salman highlighted the significant role being played by the Council of the Arab Tourism Ministers in promotion of tourism awareness among citizens as well as its role in encouraging the private sector to invest in the tourism sector.
