Russia is developing unique nuclear weaponry to ensure its defense capabilities in the future, President Vladimir Putin said after talks with defense chiefs in Moscow Wednesday. "These are designs with no parallels today or in the coming years in other nuclear-armed states," said Putin, without elaborating on the nature of the weapons or when they would be ready for deployment. While naming international terrorism as a key emerging threat, Putin noted that "the moment our attention relaxes in principal areas of defense like our nuclear missile shield, new threats will confront us".
