Malaysia Airlines has pledged to cooperate with Australian authorities in their investigations of a foiled attempt to smuggle three million ecstasy pills aboard one of its cargo planes, reports said Wednesday. Australian police on Sunday announced the country's biggest haul of party drug ecstasy with the seizure of 820 kilograms of the drug found hidden in a bakery oven shipped from Poland to Australia via Germany on a Malaysian Airlines flight. Malaysia Airlines spokesman Rosli Mohamad Yasin said the carrier had agreed to obtain the number of the consignment and information on the forwarding agent. "When it comes to international air cargo we can only make random checks on cargo, although it is not normal industry practice. We do spot checks on certain shipments," Rosli told the official Bernama news agency. He said that the company would cooperate fully with Australian authorities, adding that the airline complied with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. An X-ray in Australia spotted the drugs, which have a street value of 200 million Australian dollars (152 million U.S. dollars), hidden in compartments of the oven and an inspection revealed 62 boxes containing about 115 kilograms of powder and about three million tablets weighing 705 kilograms. Two Australian men, aged 54 and 32, have been charged over last month's drug find.
