More than 71.15 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,608,736 have died, according to a Reuters tally. Russia on Monday confirmed 27,328 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, including 5,874 in Moscow, pushing the national tally to 2,681,256. Authorities said 450 people had died overnight, taking the official death toll to 47,391. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 16,362 to 1,337,078 and the death toll rose by 188 to 21,975, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Monday. The numbers are usually lower on Mondays, because there is less testing and less data being transmitted to the RKI on weekends. The total number of coronavirus cases in Ukraine has exceeded 900,000, health minister Maksym Stepanov said on Monday. He said 6,451 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours together with new 93 virus-related deaths. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
