A U.S. souvenir company is pursuing a multi- million dollar lawsuit against the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund in a move that could lead to the fund's closure, according to news reports Monday. The imbroglio started six years ago when the fund sued the Franklin Mint, alleging it was illegally selling Diana dolls, plates and jewellery. When the fund lost the case the Franklin Mint counter-sued claiming that its reputation was harmed and asking for some 18 million dollars in damages. If the lawsuit is upheld it will drain the Diana Fund of money and force it to close. The Franklin Mint has pledged that any damages it is awarded will be donated to charity. --SP 2232 Local Time 1932 GMT
