French reinforcements land in Ivory Coast after deadly clashes

Hundreds of French
reinforcements landed in Ivory Coast on Sunday morning, the
French military said, after a day of air and ground clashes
between forces of France and its former colony.
About 250 men, flew in from posts in the West African
nation of Gabon, where three Mirage fighter jets scrambled
yesterday by France were on standby, French government
spokesman Jacques Combarieau said.
