Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia traveled to the Gaza Strip on Saturday for talks with various Palestinian groups aimed at preserving calm during Yasser Arafat's absence, Qureia's office said. After initial indications that the meeting would be canceled, Qureia left the Palestinian government headquarters in the West Bank at midmorning. In Gaza, Qureia was to meet with leaders of various Palestinian security forces, as well as the Islamic groups -- Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The groups met in Gaza on Friday in a show of unity. Qureia was to have attended that meeting, but postponed his trip to Saturday.
