Three officers of the Indian army were killed when their helicopter crashed in the northern hill state of Uttaranchal, an army spokesman said Saturday. The charred bodies of Major General D.P. Singh, a divisional commander, his aide Lt. Col. B.K. Pande and pilot Captain Arjun Sardana were found in the Himalayan foothills about seven kilometres from the China-India border, the spokesman said. The army had said Friday that the general's aircraft went missing when it lost radio contact during a reconnaissance mission. An army helicopter landed near the crash site and recovered the bodies Saturday.
