Within the GCC and Russian strategic existing dialogue, the virtual ministerial meeting among the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States and the Russian Federation is co-chaired today by Dr. Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in participation of GCC Secretary General Dr. Naif Al-Hajraf. During the meeting, the ministers discussed the GCC-Russian relations and joint cooperation in various fields, affirming their keenness to strengthen the mechanisms of the strategic dialogue which was launched in November 2011. They also discussed the latest developments in the regional political and security situations, international efforts to combat terrorism and a number of regional and international issues of common interest, including the Palestinian Cause, Iran, Syria, Libya, and Yemen, stressing the importance of coordination between the two sides in addressing the challenges of security and peace.
