Following is the biography of Lieutenant General Mutlaq bin Salim bin Mutlaq Al-Azima, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, who was appointed as Acting Commander of the Joint Forces. Lieutenant General Mutlaq Al-Azima obtained a bachelor degree in military science, armored vehicles, from King Abdulaziz Military College, a master degree in military science from the Command and Staff College of the Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia, then a fellowship of the College of War of Nasser Higher Military Academy. He was a member of the intelligence unit in the Royal Saudi Land Forces during the liberation of Kuwait. He was the Commander of the Peninsula Shield forces of countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He was also appointed as a military advisor at the Ministry of Defense. On 10 Jumada Al-Thani 1439 AH, a royal order was issued to promote him to the rank of Lieutenant General and appoint him as Deputy Chief of the General Staff. On Tuesday, 01 September, 2020, a royal order was issued to appoint him as Acting Commander of the Joint Forces.
