A group of U.S. congressmen sent a letter to Slovak officials expressing appreciation for the country's policies and its deployment of soldiers to Iraq, the government said Friday. In the letter, U.S. senators voiced their gratitude to Slovak soldiers serving with the multinational force in Iraq, saying they appreciated their presence, professionalism and sacrifices. Slovakia, which joined NATO and the European Union earlier this year, has deployed 105 soldiers in Iraq, most of them for de-mining operations. The country's leaders have been very supportive of the U.S.-led fight against terrorism.
