An Aeroflot passenger jet flying from Madrid, Spain, to Moscow made an emergency landing in southeast France before dawn Thursday after smoke appeared in the cockpit, officials said. The Airbus A320 plane, carrying 66 passengers, landed at Marseille-Provence airport along the Mediterranean coast at about 1:30 a.m. local time (2330 GMT Wednesday), officials at the airport said by phone. No one was injured, the officials said, declining to comment immediately on what may have caused the smoke. The plane was to undergo repairs Thursday before leaving again for the Russian capital, the officials said.
