The Minister of Health, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, inaugurated today mobile blood bank units. The Ministry of Health (MoH) said that the mobile blood bank units aim to enable blood banks to reach the places of donors, in order to promote the culture of blood donation and increase the number of voluntary and regular blood donors. The ministry added that 24 mobile units with international specifications and fully equipped with the latest devices necessary for blood donation will be provided for each central blood bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first batch of the mobile blood bank units will be distributed to various health districts, while the other 14 units will be imported in the coming months and will be distributed to various central blood banks in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is worth noting that the number of blood banks reached 221, including 24 central blood banks, 105 branch blood banks and 83 blood transfusion centers. In 2019, the number of blood donors reached 345,693 male and female donors.
